Understanding the Method
Classical , Authentic, Traditional, True, Vintage Pilates are all terms now being used to identify the original method of physical conditioning developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th Century, practiced and taught as close as possible to how he designed it. It is distinguished by a commitment to the original exercises, sequences, equipment, and teaching style.
What you should know
Direct lineage: Classical Pilates stays very close to how Joseph Pilates taught the work. Our instructors have been directly trained by Romana Kryzanowska Joseph Pilates' protege.
Original exercises: it uses the original exercises created by Joseph Pilates
Specific Order: exercises are performed in a specific sequence (especially on the mat and reformer) which builds the body systematically
Focus on flow: There is an emphasis on continuous movement from one exercise to the next, maintaining flow and rhythm
Use of traditional apparatus: Classical studios use equipment built to Joseph Pilates original specifications designed to work with the body as he intended.
